Bed-Stuy Church Nominated for National Historic Status

The stately and iconic Cornerstone Baptist Church in Bedford Stuyvesant, known for its beauty, longevity, Civil Rights Movement activism and community development, was just honored with a nomination to the National Registers of Historic Places for both New York City and New York State. The historic Romanesque Revival designed church on Lewis Avenue, now headed by the Re. Lawrence Aker, will, if named, be eligible for funds and tax credits for renovation and restoration.
