Possible robbery pattern
Police sources said a possible crime pattern is emerging after two similar knifepoint robberies have led to money being taken from ATMs.
In the first incident, a 24-year-old man was walking on the southeast corner of Saint Marks and Nostrand Avenues at about 2:15 am, Jan. 27, when he was grabbed by three males and dragged at knifepoint to a gated area where he was robbed of his valuables. Then, while two of the perpetrators held him, the third perpetrator took his bankcard and withdrew $606 from a nearby ATM machine.
Three days later at 10:25 pm, Jan. 30, two perpetrators held up a 35-year-old man with a knife to his throat in front of 1030 Park Place. The thugs then made the victim withdraw $300 from a nearby ATM and took his cell phone before fleeing into the night.

Robbed for four dollars
A 13-year-old boy was robbed at gunpoint for four dollars at 8 am on Jan. 26, police said.
The youth was waiting for a bus on the northeast corner of Saint Marks and Brooklyn Avenue when another youth, who the victim identified as a former classmate who now attends a suspension school, approached him brandishing a black firearm and demanding his money and cell phone. The young perpetrator then fled.

Thug grabs Kindle
A 33-year-old woman was robbed of her purse including her Amazon Kindle as she walked home from Fulton Street, police said.
The woman was walking home to her Prospect Place apartment at about 11:40 pm, Jan. 26, when a male perpetrator approached her and punched her in the face before grabbing her purse.

Robbery thwarted
A potential bodega robbery was thwarted and the alleged perpetrator was collared thanks to workers in the store, police said.
The incident began when the suspect walked into the bodega at 152 Albany Avenue at about 4 pm, Jan. 24, pulled out a black firearm and started pistol-whipping the 18-year-old male clerk behind the counter. The two workers tried to stop the beating and the suspect fled.
One of the workers followed the perpetrator inside a building on Bergen Street where cops made the arrest.

Pizza man robbed
A pizza deliveryman was robbed inside of the building at 1267 Lincoln Place, police said.
When the man entered the building at 10 pm, Jan. 29, he was approached by three perpetrators with one displaying a firearm and ordered to empty his pockets.
The three escaped with $87 and an undisclosed amount of pizzas.

Shooting in Tompkins Houses
A man was shot on the 9th floor of 919 Myrtle Avenue in the Tompkins Houses, police said.
The shooting took place around 10:30 pm, on Jan. 16. Police released no further details and said the incident remains an active investigation.
The shooting came two days after a 23-year-old man was gunned down in the Tompkins Houses as reported in last week’s blotter.

Paint shop robbed
The Benjamin Moore paint shop was robbed on Jan. 28, police said.
Three male perpetrators entered the store at 3:30 pm and robbed both the store and patrons of their belongings at gunpoint.
Police are actively investigating the crime.

Public housing robbery pattern
Police are investigating a possible robbery pattern at the Lafayette Gardens public housing development. Both robberies occurred in the elevator at 433 Lafayette Avenue.     The first happened at 6 pm, Jan. 18 when a male perpetrator robbed the victim by force.  Then at 1:15 pm, Jan. 19, a male perpetrator robbed the victim at gunpoint – also in the elevator.

Club stabbing
Two men were stabbed following a melee inside the Purple Lounge nightclub at 1517 Atlantic Avenue, police said.

The dispute broke out at about 5 am, Jan. 23. Both victims are expected to live and the incident remains under investigation.

Shot in the face
A  31-year-old man is expected to survive after being shot once in the face while he sat in his SUV talking on his cell phone, police said.

The gunfire erupted at 1:56 pm, Jan. 31 in front of 721 Willoughby Street.
Police sources said the victim had prior arrests and are investigating the possibility of retaliation as the motive behind the shooting.

Burglary at homeless shelter
A 21-year-old woman was burglarized and assaulted in a city-run family homeless shelter at 39 Auburn Place, police said.
The perpetrator jumped on the victim’s bed as she slept at about 4:30 pm, Jan. 24. He then choked her from behind and threatened to stab her. When she screamed he punched her in the eye. But then she fled the room and reported the incident to security downstairs.
Cops were called and a 29-year-old man was found in the building and arrested.

Unwanted passengers steal car
A 51-year-old woman sitting in her idling car was shocked when two masked bandits jumped in her car at about 11 am, Jan. 24, police said.
When the thieves jumped in, the shocked woman fled leaving behind her cell phone and purse containing about $60. The thugs then drove off in the 1999 Saab, which hasn’t been recovered as of press time.

Cell phone rip-offs
Two victims had cell phones snatched from their hands in separate incidents, police said.
A 13-year-old girl became the victim in the first incident while she walked past the northeast corner of Vanderbilt and DeKalb Avenues at about noon, Jan. 24.
After the perpetrator grabbed the phone from her hands the victim gave chase, but lost the thief after he vanished into the G train station at Clinton Avenue.
In the second incident, a 23-year-old woman had her Apple iPhone snatched from her hand as she was texting at about 5:30 pm, Jan. 29, in front of 395 Flatbush Avenue Extension. The perpetrator then fled.

Robbed while sleeping
A 28-year-old woman woke from a snooze on the 2 train to find her purse missing, police said.
The woman boarded the train at Chambers Street in Manhattan at about 1 am, Jan. 30, and when she woke at the stop off Fulton Street and Flatbush Avenue discovered her purse containing her laptop, cell phone, wallet and eyeglasses had been swiped.
