One Brooklyn Health (OBH) is proud to announce that OBH Interfaith Medical Center hospital has been recognized with two 2026 Castle Connolly Top Hospital Awards, earning distinction in Hernia Repair Surgery and General Surgery.
This marks the first time Castle Connolly Top Hospital Awards has been awarded to OBH Interfaith Medical Center, and being recognized in two surgical categories as a significant milestone for One Brooklyn Health. The distinction reflects the strength of the hospital’s surgical programs, the expertise of its clinical teams, and also highlights continued advancements in surgical outcomes and reinforces Interfaith’s role as a trusted provider of complex surgical services within the communities it serves.
“Being recognized for the first time in both Hernia Repair Surgery and General Surgery is a significant achievement for OBH Interfaith Medical Center. Our team continues to strive for exceptional care, reflecting the strength of our surgical team and the quality of care the community deserves,” said Dr. Brian Hall, Chief of Surgery at One Brooklyn Health Interfaith Medical Center.
Dr. Hall was also recognized as a 2026 Castle Connolly Top Doctor, marking his fifth consecutive year receiving the distinction.
The honor is complemented by the selection of 9 physicians across the health system as 2026 Castle Connolly Top Doctors, reflecting OBH’s continued commitment to delivering exceptional care to the communities it serves. The recognized physicians represent key service lines including colorectal surgery, pulmonary, nephrology, neurology, pediatric hematology oncology, general surgery, cardiovascular disease, and physical medicine & rehabilitation.
This year’s recognition includes newly honored physicians, further strengthening the systemwide distinction: Dr. Yahia Lodi Chief of Neurointerventional Surgery and Stroke Services at OBH and Dr. Katherine Mortati, OBH Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center.
Castle Connolly Top Hospitals recognizes the nation’s leading healthcare institutions. The 2026 list includes 1,663 Top Hospitals, selected from over 6,000 hospitals nationwide. These hospitals were evaluated for their overall excellence, as well as their performance in six specialties and nineteen procedures.
“These recognitions reflect the strength and consistency of clinical excellence across One Brooklyn Health. From Interfaith Medical Center’s Top Hospital distinction to the physicians recognized systemwide as Castle Connolly Top Doctors, this honor reflects the quality of care delivered across all of our facilities,” said Dr. Kusum Viswanathan, Chief Medical Officer, One Brooklyn Health.
The recognition is based on a comprehensive, outcomes-driven methodology, which combines recent all-payor outcomes data with Castle Connolly’s Top Doctor evaluations, focused on clinical expertise. This approach provides a clear, data-informed view of where high-quality care is being delivered today.
“Our goal is to make complex healthcare decisions easier for patients and their healthcare providers. By combining current outcomes data with the vetted expertise of Top Doctors, we highlight hospitals that truly excel in specific procedures, supporting patients in their most critical healthcare decisions.” Steve Leibforth, Managing Director Castle Connolly
