New York – While Malcolm X would have turned ninety-eight years old this approaching May 19th, if not for the bullets of assassins, his honest critic of economic exploitation, poverty and racial violence systematically perpetrated against Black people in the U.S. continues to inspire folks all around the world today.

Omowale Clay, from the New York office of the human rights group, the December 12th Movement, confirmed today, that the annual celebration of Malcolm X’s birthday will occur on Friday, May 19, 2023 across West 125th Street in Harlem. In what has become an anticipated tradition each year, and a statement of respect, a “commercial moment of silence” will require all businesses along West 125th Street to close from 1:00pm to 4:00pm ET.
