John E. Harmon, Sr. NYSBBA CHAIR AND FOUNDER

Event Designed to Help Local Entrepreneurs “Navigate NYC Opportunities

Last week, The New York State Black Business Alliance (NYSBBA) announced an upcoming in-person event poised to be a pivotal moment for local businesses and entrepreneurs in New York City.

Titled “Empowering Business Synergies: Navigating NYC Opportunities,” it is scheduled for Tuesday, September 26, 2023, 5:00pm- 7:00pm at FEDCAP, 210 East 43rd Street in Manhattan.

“The event is poised to bridge the gap between local businesses and the City of New York, offering attendees a unique opportunity to connect with the dynamic New York business community,” said John E. Harmon, Sr., IOM, Founder, CEO & Chair of NYSBBA, “Empowering Business Synergies is about strengthening the bond among black businesses, and others within our ecosystems, to derive mutual value. It is an opportunity for us to collectively create pathways to prosperity.  We invite everyone who shares our commitment to economic equity to join us for this exciting event.”

Highlighting NYSBBA’s commitment to empowering Black businesses is the lineup of distinguished speakers assembled, including: Karine Apollon, Chief Diversity Officer of the New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) and Michael Garner, Chief Business Diversity Officer of the Mayor’s Office of Minority & Women-Owned Business Enterprises.

The speakers will provide attendees with invaluable insights into NYC Procurement opportunities and the intricacies of collaborating with NYC Public Schools. “This event is not just about networking; it is about forging meaningful connections and exploring avenues for growth and collaboration,” according to this week’s NYSBBA press announcement.

An addition to the event experience, Sharene Wood, President/CEO of HH Bespoke Spirits & Beverages, the award-winning and critically-acclaimed collection, will be providing the refreshments. This exemplifies the NYSBBA’s commitment to supporting and promoting Black-owned businesses within the community.

She is proud of her company’s Brooklyn business connections, most notably Bed-Stuy’s own Bed-Vyne and Brew on Tompkins Avenue, the brainchild of the community’s entrepreneurial stars Rotimi Akinnuoye, Michael Brooks, Peter Medford, and Damone James.

Harmon further urges all business owners to “not miss out on this unique opportunity to elevate your business and be part of a collaborative effort to drive economic growth and prosperity in the heart of New York City.”
