At the last Community Board 3 meeting of the fiscal year, District Manager Henry Butler announced his resignation effective at the end of the month from the position he served in for 10 years. He joined the board in 2006 and was chair in 2008 and was “blessed” to be chosen by the Board to be District Manager in 2013.
“Honor and a pleasure to be District Manager in the neighborhood that raised me.” Butler recounted how much his children had grown in his time as DM.
Butler acknowledged the chairpersons he served under when he became a member Beatrice Jones and Brenda Fryson.

The Chairs he worked under were Tremaine Wright when he became manager, Mr. Flateau and the current chair Anthony Buissereth. He thanked the three “for making me a better District Manager.”
Butler spoke the names of members of the board who had passed, Rev. Gwen Dingall, Nelson Stoute, Bernice McCrae, Tohma Faulkner, Bernice Brown, and Delores Witherspoon and asked forgiveness if he forgot someone. Political leaders whom he learned from were also highlighted: “The late, great Al Vann, Senator Velmanette Montgomery, Assemblywoman Annette Robinson, Congressman Townes and Congressmember Hakeem Jeffries.”
He ended by saying he had “The highest regard ad respect for those who take the time out of their busy lives to give back to their community, volunteer for the community.” Honor and a pleasure to be your District Manager and Board Chair.”
