Emmett Till’s Murder (Film) & the Resistance to American Terror

On Saturday, September 16, from 3PM to 5PM, the New York Chapter of the National Association of Kawaida Organizations (NAKO) in conjunction with the International African Arts Festival (IAAFestival) will host the launching of its Fall 2023 Community Education Forums with a film and discussion marking the 68th anniversary of the murder in Money, Mississippi, USA of 14 year old Emmett Till.

The 68th anniversary of Emmett Till’s murder, the trial and its aftermath (1955) still demand that our community reflect on this salient historical period like other self-conscious, self-respecting and self-empowering people throughout the world.
These events, along with the response of two courageous Black women, Emmett Till’s mother, Mamie Till Mobley, and Rosa Parks’ bold stand of ‘sitting down,’ launched what is today the Black Freedom Movement, often called the more limited Civil Rights Movement. This year’s program is entitled, The Emmett Till Murder: Resistance to American Terror.
The September 16th event will take place at the IAAFestival office at 1360 Fulton Street, Suite 401 in Restoration Plaza, Brooklyn, New York. A fee of $10 is requested. For Info: 718-789-3264 / 638-6700 or nakoinfogroup@yahoo.com
On Saturday, October 22, from 3-5PM, come out for the showing of “Aristide and the Endless Revolution.”
