Feris Jones, an off-duty NYPD cop getting her hair done in a Sabine’s Hallway beauty salon on Franklin Avenue, foiled a robbery attempt Saturday evening by striking the assailant after he shot at her, police sources said.
Jones, who works in the NYPD Crime Lab, was inside Brooklyn salon Sabine’s Hallway when the man busted in with a .44 Magnum and demanded cash and property from the four women in the shop, sources said.

The Barbados-born 50-year-old officer identified herself as a cop, pulled out her gun and ordered him to drop his weapon, officials said. The suspect then shot at her but missed. She returned fire forcing him – shooting the gun out of his hands and hitting the salon’s doorknob to block his escape.  The suspect fled but was apprehended.
“He messed with the wrong one tonight,” said witness Annie Lawson.
“Thank God the officer was there.  I’m thankful to be alive,” said salon owner Sabine Bellevue.  “If she wasn’t there, things could have gone differently.  The robber was fully loaded.”
Mayor Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly announced Tuesday that Officer Jones is now promoted to Detective.
