Do you have a “bucket list”?
Georgia “Auntie” Slaughter-Hughes, who recently celebrated her 97th birthday, has one filled with wishes and chutzpah.
Last Christmas, in a conversation with one of her nephews, she revealed her lifelong desire to ride a motorcycle, and he did everything to make it happen.
So Saturday, August 7, Mrs. Slaughter-Hughes fulfilled her bucket list dream — as you can see in the photo, thanks to the kindness of Bro. Kenneth Washington, a local biker, and a member of Bridge Street AWME Church.
Auntie is still very active at her Stuyvesant Heights Christian  Church  and  with the seniors at the church’s  senior center.   She says she most enjoys  spending time with her family, especially the youngest members.
But the biking was a major highlight of her long life. Of her experience, she exclaimed, “I GOT MY WISH!”, “I GOT MY  WISH! God is so good”!
“I am so thankful to the persons who made it possible for me to have this wonderful opportunity,” she added. “Thanks to all who came out to root me on. I didn’t realize that there was so many people who cared about me. I am so blessed (to have this experience, and for having my niece, Charlene Smith, who has been taking such good care of me since the passing of my husband 6 years ago.
Ride on, Mrs. Slaughter-Hughes. Ride on.
