This event has been organized by the Ethical Action Committee, the Sunday platform committee and the Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture. The Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture (BSEC), founded in 1906, is a humanistic, religious, and educational fellowship promoting the knowledge, love, and practice of ethics-centered living.
Brooklyn Councilman Jumaane Williams is one of the leading critics of the NYPD’s Stop & Frisk strategy subjecting young men of color to unwarranted searches. Councilman Williams himself was stopped by police while attempting to attend a closed event at the Brooklyn Museum during the Caribbean Day parade. He will fill us in on the battle and evaluate the prospects of community policing.

I spoke with someone on the phone in regards to a story that Our Times Press in undertaking concerning foster care from the birth parents point of view. Well, I”m currently involved in a case for my son and my experiences have not been good for the most part. Between the ACS, the foster care agency and the court it has been a situation that has been very painful, but as the saying goes if it doesn’t kill me it’ll make me strong. This statement has proved itself to be true where I am concerned, for I have learned eliminate the negative in my life; accentuate all that is good about me and to self advovate for myself and my son. By the grace of God I will overcome the odds against me and in the end be proven worthy of the title of daddy, the title my son know’s me as. Holla back at me!
