77th Precinct covering Crown Heights and Prospect Heights
Man robbed at ATM machine
A 32-year-old man was accosted on the street and forced to an ATM where he took out $500 and gave it to the perpetrator, police said.
The victim was accosted from behind at about 5:50 am, Jan. 10, on the northwest corner of Saint Marks and Bedford Avenues as he was walking to the subway. The perpetrator then made verbal threats and took the victim to an ATM at 684 Nostrand Avenue where the withdrawal was made.
The thug then made off with the cash withdrawal and the victim’s iPod.

Screaming victim thwarts robbery
A 28-year-old woman stopped two perpetrators from robbing her with screams for help, police said.
The woman was jumped at about 10:10 pm, Jan. 12, in front of 248 New York Avenue. When one of the perpetrators grabbed her purse the woman turned the table by screaming for help at the top of her lungs. Startled, the thugs turned tails and fled without taking anything.

Teenager robbed
A 15-year-old teenager was robbed of his iPod early on the morning of Jan. 11, police said.
The teenager was walking in front of 1121 Park Place at about 7:40 am when he was confronted by the perpetrator who indicated he had a gun. The robber then punched the teenager in the face and took the phone before fleeing into the Albany Houses.

Eatery burglarized
A popular fish-and-chips restaurant was burglarized on Jan. 13, police said.
The owners of Your Choice Fish and Chips, 1171 Saint Johns Place, found that the eatery was burglarized at about 11 pm.
The alleged thieves made off with several items including a large-screen TV with a total estimated value of about $3,532.

13-year-old seriously wounded
A 13-year-old boy was chased down by 10 perpetrators and stabbed with a sharp object on Jan. 14, police said.
The incident unfolded at about 4:25 pm starting on the northeast corner of Kingston Avenue and Prospect Place. The boy attempted to run, but one of the perpetrators quickly caught up with him and stabbed him in the back puncturing his lung. No weapon was recovered.
The boy is expected to recover.

Car stolen
A 50-year-old man had his 1998 Nissan stolen at 7:35 am, Jan. 13, after he left the auto running to make a stop, police said.
The incident happened opposite 162 Troy Avenue. Police combed the area and called local tow companies, but reported it as stolen after nobody reported towing it.

79th Precinct covering Bedford-Stuyvesant
First shooting of the year
A 17-year-old male became the first shooting victim of the year within the precinct’s jurisdiction, police said.
The incident occurred at about midnight on Jan. 16 while the youth was in his apartment at 919 Myrtle Avenue. The perpetrator was in the hallway and fired the gun through the apartment door, hitting the victim once in the right foot.
The youth is expected to recover and police are continuing to investigate the incident.

81st Precinct covering Stuyvesant Heights
Copper thieves collared
Police arrested two alleged burglars last week as they were in the process of taking the copper fittings from a brownstone on Hancock Street, police said.
Police sources said cops were called after a neighbor saw suspicious people entering the building. The alleged burglars had a bag of tools and were in the process of clearing the copper fittings out, police said.
“There hasn’t been a rash of these type of thefts from abandoned buildings, but it is something we deal with on a regular basis,” police sources said.

88th  Precinct covering Fort Greene/Clinton Hill

Five youths shot following basketball game
Police are still looking for the suspected shooter of five youths following a basketball game, police said.
The shooting occurred at about 10 pm, Jan. 14, opposite 80 Greene Avenue following a Bishop Loughlin basketball game.
Those shot include two 19-year-old men, two 17-year-old men and a 17-year-old woman. All the victims are expected to recover.

Identity theft leaves man perplexed
A 32-year-old man found out on Jan. 10 that someone opened a charge card using his identity and rang up over $2,000 in charged merchandise over the Christmas holiday, police said.
The thief allegedly used the man’s name and Social Security card number to open a charge card account at Kohl’s, where he purchased $700 worth of merchandise. He also charged up another $1,300 at other big stores including Target.
Police said they are unaware at this time how the victim’s personal information was compromised.

Car broken into
A 50-year-old woman had her purse snatched after burglars broke into her car at about 5:15 pm, Jan. 10, police said.
The victim had parked her car on Willoughby Avenue between Emerson Place and Hall Street. The purse contained $300 in cash and credit cards, among other items.

Teenager beaten and robbed
A 16-year-old girl was beaten and robbed by six other teens at about 5 pm, Jan. 13, police said.
The incident occurred on the northwest corner of Lafayette Avenue and Saint Felix Place.
Thus far, police made two arrests including a 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl.

Electronic devices snatched
Police reported two more incidents in which electronic devices were snatched in the past week.
The first incident occurred at about 11:10 am, Jan. 16 on the C train subway platform at Fulton Street and Washington Avenue, when a 27-year old woman had her I-Pod snatched out of her hand and the perpetrator fled on foot.
The second incident occurred at about 3:45 pm, Jan. 16, when a 30-year-old woman had her iPhone snatched out of her hands while on the sidewalk in front of 344 Grand Avenue.
