from the comments I have read, it is very clear that many of the stakeholders at MEC don't know the first thing about University governance. yes indeed shared governance is important but 23 students on a university committee is outrageous. there is a student body government and that is where students need to be. One would also hope that there is a active and vocal student newspaper on campus. Students must speak, but they don't really belong at the cabinet table in mass. from what I can tell from the comments I have read here, even some faculty have has no clue what shared governance is and the role of the faculty. It is outrageous to have 23 students on a college committee governance committee. As important as the stupid voice is students have no clue about University governance. no wonder Dr Pollard didn't do well at mec, he was accustomed to a real institution of higher education.

Its interesting to me that Cyber Security should in this day be such a big deal. It has been known for years that systems that run windows lack security! I am 62 now, and have followed computers as a hobbie from their onset. Also the congresswomen is mis-informed! "Clarke explained the various threats from viruses to cookies and other software – that despite antivirus software – quickly makes computer equipment obsolete." Not so, viruses, cookies and other software dont affect computer equipment and (There are no obsolete computers, except in the minds of the market and the people who listen to the market! I still use a system that was build with windows 3.0 but was replaced with a FreeBSD operating system and its not obsolete.)
They (virus and the like) do however effect windows operating systems. Banks, news organizations, hospitals, universities government or other agencies that are Security minded should be using operating systems that have/had Security in mind from the design stage instead of as a after thought. But then again that might hurt Microsoft. To me it's interesting that the big push to monitor the internet started after 911 which had nothing to do with is it Cyber Security. So is it Cyber Security or the free exchange of information and ideas?

You were the East and the East was Brooklyn. The dancers. The drummers. The musicians.
The Last Poets. Yeah... the Last Poets may have been born in Harlem... but we grew up in
Brooklyn... We grew up in the East. Not only was it our spiritual, cultural home, it was basically
our home... home. Because I lived on clinton ave and when I wanted some healthy and good
food I came down to the East to eat. One of my step children went to the school. And when I
wasn't working there I came down to listen to some of the best musicians in the World. Carlos
Garnett Gary Bartz Andy Bey Charles and Myra Hunter Bob Cunningham Pharoah Saunders
Etc Etc Etc The East was family. It was a very special and unique place for a very special and
unique time. Sure... I had my spats with you Adayemi and Mensah at times but we always
found a way to work TOGETHER in the best interest of our people and our communities. I
remember the First Street Fair... It was the House of Nilija... Charles and Myra Hunter. The
Weusi Kuumba Troupe and The Last Poets. Jitu you gave me the opportunity to indulge in
and enjoy some of the greatest moments of my life. I thank you for that Brother. And I thank
you for what you gave to the Borough of Brooklyn! P.S. We Scorpios are stubborn and very
