The New York Jets began training camp in Cortland, NY. Only problem is that the team may be in the mix of a crisis as their best defensive player and perhaps the best cornerback in all of football Darrelle Revis. Revis is currently holding out of camp, due to a contract dispute. Revis is in the last year of his rookie contract and would liked to be the highest paid cornerback in the NFL. The Jets front office has said they have made offers thru Revis’s agent,but the two sides have yet to come to an agreement which is favorable to both parties.

With his impact in a game and his astonishing numbers, it’s hard to have a legitimate beef with Revis. Darrelle Revis played a huge contributor to why the New York Jets defense was ranked #1 allowing 14.8 points per game. The Jets defense with the help of Revis only allowed one Wide Receiver to break 100 yards in a game. Many players come face to face in entering “Revis Island” and few have success being matched up with him. Players such as Vincent Jackson, Terrell Owens, Steve Smith, and Chad Ochocinco have endured no success. Revis is looking for the kind of money that Oakland Raiders cornerback Asomugh Nnami Received last year.As much as Jets head coach Rex Ryan tries to shift over Revis’s holdout it is obvious that the Jets need Revis to make a strong push to play in Texas, the site of this year’s super bowl. Both the front office and representatives of Darrelle Revis must take a little to get something done. Rex Ryan preaches constantly that his defense is good without Revis. It’s clear no one in New York is taking that seriously. Revis is scheduled to make $1 Million dollars this year and would like to make about $15 Million per year. The Jets are on the brink of something special this year perhaps, with the city buzzing on super bowl talks. The man-to man coverage is what Rex Ryan perfects in his defensive scheme, but newly Jet, Antonio Cromartie and rookie cornerback Kyle Wilson may not be enough to execute shutting down wide receivers on Sundays. Give the Jets fans what they want, a chance to celebrate in Manhattan come February. Give Revis the money according to his stats, he deserves. Both sides must come to a conclusion So for now we’ll sit back await the Green and White begin their quest at a super bowl tittle.
