I agree with your your point of view in this by-line. I am a member of single payer group and we are trying very hard to get a seat at the table in Washington as the insurers try hard to block the agenda for a single payer system to protect their profitability. It is really time for a change here and I would hope that the administration will not back peddle in this regard. See some recent action by Single Payer Action. "Dying for Healthcare" 2,000 Americans dead last year from lack of health insurance. 22,000 not because they had a fatal illness or debilitating disease. They just did not have access to care. Single Payer Action honored those dead yesterday at the office of Rep. Earl Blumenauer (OR-3) in downtown Portland, OR. We littered the streets and his office with "dead" bodies for 22 minutes.
